California's Individual

Self-Sufficiency Planning (ISSP) Project

California's Individual Self-Sufficiency Planning (ISSP) project was designed to demonstrate the value of two sets of activities often missing (or, poorly developed) in the existing service system:   (1) financial planning and assistance to reduce anxiety about working at all , and to lessen the impact of benefit problems and surprises when working, and (2) long-term employment support – that is, helping the person find and use resources (natural, generic, and specialized) that a person may need to get and keep a job, and to progress in a chosen line of work.
