My name is Joyce Miramontez. I am a consumer of Easter Seals supported living
services. Through the efforts of Easter Seals and North L. A. Regional Center,
I received a Word-Plus laptop computer with a voice modem.
My computer has helped me in many ways. It has helped me communicate with
my Easter Seals coaches, who are Maurine Wilson, Walker Groves and Nellia.
My laptop computer has helped me communicate my daily needs, thoughts and
feelings to others.
It also has helped me to really talk to my friends on the telephone. I also
am able to go see my friends using my computer to communicate with the drivers
of public transportation unaided. I am also able to send faxes and do my
banking electronically.
My daytime and evening hours are made more enjoyable by the many games I
have programmed Into the computer. At this time I am enrolled in a computer
class three days a week. I am going to and participating in this class independently.
I am very thankful for my computer as it has helped me to open new horizons
in my life. Thank you Easter Seals and especially you Aletha!
